When anticipating the trip home, there were three things I wanted to accomplish: relaxing, hanging out with family and friends, and eating. So far we've been quite successful at all three.
It's warmed up a bit since our arrival, preventing a white Christmas (instead it's raining) but making it less unpleasant to venture outside. On Tuesday we trekked down to Louisville for an afternoon of delicious Irish food, bowling, and euchre with Alysia and Jason. We headed back north (narrowly missing the impending ice on the roads) in time for a dinner at Chili's and a showing of Quantum of Solace with Mom, Dad, and Adam. For Christmas Eve, we got in some much-needed game playing (Apples to Apples, Taboo, and Sequence), ate a lovely fondue dinner, made a trip up to Indy for church, and opened loads of gifts. Christmas Day was one of the most relaxed yet: after a visit from Santa and breakfast by Dad, we watched movies, napped, ate two dinners, and then watched more movies.
We're expecting a fair number of visitors in the remaining days. Rick is finally in town and our Christmas with him is today. If Jack's health cooperates, he, Phil, and Amanda will be joining us tomorrow. And on Sunday, Sam, Fran, Jesse, and Eliot will arrive for a BBQ feast.

Sorry again we didn't make it. It was the right decision, Jack's having a tough evening. Poor little guy. Enjoy the rest of your trip and we'll see in in NC sometime in the spring.
Phil.
