The monkey has turned into a fish

I can't believe it's already late June. We've been so busy, the summer is absolutely flying by! Mom & Dad were in town visiting for 10 days and we got so many projects done: among other things, they refinished our kitchen table, helped fix our dripping A/C condenser (and the water it left on our ceiling), and fixed Gabe's curtains so they will block out the evening sunlight when he's going to bed. I was a bit jealous as they got to spend the days with Mike and Gabe at home while I went to work, but I got nice evenings and weekends anyway. It was really nice being able to hang out and relax while somebody else took care of the cooking and most of the cleaning. I've been spoiled! :)

Last night was Gabe's last swimming lesson. It was so much fun to see him progress so much over the course of 8 short lessons. He really took to the water and was starting to move himself around in it. Plus he was the only kid in the class who would put his head under water (and as the youngest one in the class, I was super impressed by this!). We're going to have to find a place to take him swimming now that he is finished.

Walking is now G's primary mode of transportation and he is quite the pro at it. He also continues to talk constantly and has added "dirty" and "Grandpa" to his list of words. He still has the same 6 teeth he's had for months (though with last week's bout of mouth pain, I think he'll be getting a couple more soon) but is quite adept at chewing with them. He's always liked pureed green beans, but last week he ate the real thing (complete with creole spice) and couldn't get enough of them.

We are also been spending one night a week with Danny and Sarah introducing Gabe and Mia to Star Wars. They're technically supposed to sleep through the movies since we start them after dinner, but Mia has seen most of them and Gabe stayed awake for the animated Clone Wars last week. It's fun to see so much of D&S and also for Gabe & Mia to get so much time together. They are becoming quite the pair.

Happy late June birthdays to Amanda, Carl, Matt, Uncle Jason, Corbin, Ben, and Kayla (and Mindy tomorrow)! Also a huge congrats to Dr. Sarah who defended her PhD thesis last week!!
