We hit our polling location early this morning (the minute it opened at 6:30 am) and waited for about a half hour to vote. Most of that wait was lag from those who got there up to 30 minutes before the polls opened. Anyway, once I had my actual ballot (I wanted to ask for a 2nd for junior Friedman, but I don't think that a fetus could pass for an 18-year-old) I spent more time checking and re-checking that I'd filled in the correct bubble next to Obama's name. I don't know what the deal is - I'm pretty confident in my reading skills, but for once in my life, I was pretty certain that this particular bubble really mattered, so I wanted to be quintuple-sure it was right. After voting, we celebrated with a Mc Donald's breakfast and then I dropped Mike off at school for a teacher workday before continuing on to Chapel Hill.
The rest of the day has been kind of a wash. After a miserable day, I found out this afternoon that I passed another pregnancy milestone: my very first UTI. Bleh. I can't wait for the antibiotics to kick in. Evening plans include camping out on the couch watching election coverage. Here's hoping for change!

Isn't that funny? I was thinking later, also, I 'did' fill in the right bubble, didn't I??? I do wish Jack and I had gone for McDonald's afterward! Sorry about the UTI - those usually get cleared up soon after the antibiotics. Rest up until then!!
I was at a Diebold machine, and I checked like three or four times to make sure I picked Obama.
gross.
Matt was worried that something was wrong because I took so long. Really I was just standing there starting at the bubble making sure it didn't change while I stared at it.
hey, if it's your first UTI ever, I would consider yourself lucky. Some people get those all the time, pregnant or not.
and...
HOORAY for OBAMA!!!!!
Turns out it wasn't even a UTI. They thought for sure it was, but it turns out that a certain proportion of the population experiences similar symptoms while the uterus grows up past the bladder. I'm in that group. Guess my already tiny bladder doesn't tolerate compression well. Let me tell you how much I'm looking forward to the third trimester!!
